The fishing near Birds Creek Campground is some of the best in the eastern United States. There are excellent small mouth, bream, rock bass, and trout waters just a 10-15 minute drive from the campground.

The Smoky Mountains National Park has hundreds of miles of pristine trout streams, some with trout population densities as high as 2000 trout per mile. The upper levels of these streams contain the beautiful Native Brook Trout (different than brook trout caught in the western U.S. The lower ends of the streams have Rainbow and Brown trout.

Spinning tackle or fly tackle both work well in the area.

Little River Fishing Outfitters has a fly fishing school and daily fishing report which can be viewed here.
